“We pass on the spirit of sustainability through our toys” – Great Plan!

Every now and then a company takes my breath away with its demonstrated commitment to excellence, sustainability, education and inspiration and today that company is Plan Toys.

The first consignment of their wooden arrived 2 months ago and knowing Plan Toy’s A1 eco credentials I was eager to see if their products were as good as they sounded.  The good news in that after a weeks of playing I can report back that I really love the range but before I tell you why, here’s a few things about Plan Toys that makes their production special:

• They’re made with preservative-free, sustainable Rubberwood, with no fertilizer and a chemical free kiln process.
• Plan Toys have a reforestation programme.
• They use water based dyes, non-formaldehyde organic glues, soy ink and recycled paper.
• Branches and off cuts are used at the plant to generate power for the factory and surrounding villages.
• They use recyclable packaging and green logistics.
• They are one of the leading companies creating new materials from scrap wood and developing production processes to minimize waste down to zero.
• They have an eco friendly factory with “diversity and equal opportunities”.
• They’re involved in a host of local and international projects.

Their toys exceed European and International safety standards. 

But what about the toys themselves?

Well Plan Toys describe their toys as designed to:

“inspire children’s imagination as well as promote their physical and intellectual development and cultivate children to grow up in a sustainable manner so that these children will develop into adults who will also create a sustainable world…[by] incorporating thoughtful design and age-appropriate challenges to stimulate children’s creativity, encourage healthy social interaction, promote natural learning and in still a sense of wonder with a range of  innovative educational toys for every developmental stage of childhood”.

And what do I say?

They’re totally lush!!  They are beautifully and thoughtfully made and designed with attention to detail and a sense of humour. They are wonderful to touch and hold in a way that only really good quality wooden toys have and while they are ingenious, they are also simple and stylish. They are the sort of wooden toys that are a pleasure to have and enjoy. Out of the wooden dollhouses which are thought provoking and modern, the cute frog puzzle, the tactile tea set and clever activity blocks,
